Correcting personal information
Customers can change or update personal information on file with Instacart. You can change the following—
- Account information
- Contact information
- Address(es)
- Payment methods
- Loyalty cards
- Order notifications
- Marketing options
- Retailer sharing
- Instacart+
You can change or update your personal information in the Instacart app or on the Instacart website.
In the app—
- Open the Instacart app
- Tap the menu in the upper left corner
- Tap Account Settings or Your Instacart+ membership
- Tap the section(s) you want to change
On the website—
- Go to Instacart.com
- Click the menu in the upper left corner
- Click Account Settings or Your Instacart+ membership
- Click the section(s) you want to change
Accessing personal information
Active and inactive customers can request a copy of their personal information that Instacart has by submitting a request to access personal information.
Non-account holders who do not have access to their account may email [email protected] with their request.
An Authorized Agent is someone authorized by a customer to act on behalf of the customer. Authorized Agents must submit the customer’s request along with enough information to enable Instacart to verify the customer’s identity (as explained in the Privacy Policy) and proof of authorization to [email protected]. Proof of authorization can be a Power of Attorney document or the customer’s written authorization.
Deleting personal information
Users can request deletion of personal information.
All active users, inactive users, and Authorized Agents can use Your Privacy Choices to request deletion of personal information).
Opt-out rights
Starting January 1, 2023, customers in California and Virginia can opt-out of sharing their personal information with third parties. Third parties can use their personal information for advertising and marketing on other websites or apps.
Customers can opt-out by visiting Your Privacy Choices in the Instacart app or website.
Right to appeal
Starting January 1, 2023, certain customers may submit an appeal if Instacart has not responded to a privacy request within 45 days.
